This award is named in honor of Robert Hutchings Goddard, WPI class of 1908 and pioneer in the field of rocketry. Award recipients have demonstrated exceptional professional achievement in his or her chosen field. Qualifications include, but are not limited to, outstanding leadership skills, business acumen, and innovative approaches to technical challenges, pre-eminence in teaching or research, and/or entrepreneurship.
“Receiving this award is indeed an honor.” said Steve Mezak. “I am proud to be a graduate of WPI although I sometimes have to teach people in California how to pronounce Worcester.” joked Mezak. “I fully support WPI’s continued work in producing well-rounded engineers with an excellent technical education in Worcester and with practical experience through a unique system of global project centers around the world.”
Steve Mezak received a Bachelors of Science degree with High Distinction in Computer Science from WPI in 1978. His son Charlie Mezak is now a senior at WPI studying Humanities and Environmental Engineering and just returned from Namibia where he completed his Interactive Qualifying Project studying water resource issues in the Fish River Basin.
