Amount provides omnichannel retail banking experiences and a robust point-of-sale financing product suite to their growing Clientele, with features that include fraud prevention, verification, decision engines, and account management. Those that leverage the Amount platform can optimize their performance across product categories by tapping into various service offerings including customer acquisition, funnel and performance assessments, and risk analytics.
Founded in 2018, Amount delivers the technology that financial institutions need to create and enhance the digital consumer experience, allowing them to go digital in months instead of years.
Given their growth and a constrained domestic marketplace, Amount has been actively searching for a leading remote Service Provider with which to Partner. They have investigated and interviewed several companies with varying degrees of success. Currently, they are in advanced conversations with two groups, but are still eager to leverage Accelrance’s experience in this area to confirm their findings to date and, if necessary, present more thoughtful alternatives.
Amount currently employs about 400, mostly out of their Chicago, IL headquarters. Over 100 are involved in technology, including engineers, SREs, QA, BI, etc. The engineering team is separated into pods: they have 4 pods currently, with 2 to 3 squads per pod. Pods have responsibility for 2 banks each. This coverage number could increase.
The vision is to build a dedicated, fully onboarded extension of their in-house group, although working in a staff augmentation model. The objective is to build a team of about 50 people to start: devs, some SRE, QA. Given the size, there is a thought that two partners could accomplish this easier while diversifying the risk.
The tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, HTML/CSS, Postgres, Jira, Zoom, and Slack. The new partner will need to be flexible: change requests are difficult to estimate, so they need a partner who can respond to requests with as little as a six-week lead time. They will also need to provide at least 6 hours of time overlap with Chicago, so groups in Latin America make the most sense but they will consider groups in E. Europe if they can cover 10 am-4 pm CT.
Amount does have experience engaging developers outside their organization. They have 28 contractors now, which includes DevOps resources from Gorilla Logic. There is an active relationship with Accenture, although that is starting to wind down. They have worked with developers from West Monroe Partners.
They would ideally like to start with their new partner as soon as possible without sacrificing quality, ideally 6-8 weeks.
