Situational Summary

Amount provides omnichannel retail banking experiences and a robust point-of-sale financing product suite to their growing Clientele, with features that include fraud prevention, verification, decision engines, and account management. Those that leverage the Amount platform can optimize their performance across product categories by tapping into various service offerings including customer acquisition, funnel and performance assessments, and risk analytics.

Founded in 2018, Amount delivers the technology that financial institutions need to create and enhance the digital consumer experience, allowing them to go digital in months instead of years.

Given their growth and a constrained domestic marketplace, Amount has been actively searching for a leading remote Service Provider with which to Partner. They have investigated and interviewed several companies with varying degrees of success. Currently, they are in advanced conversations with two groups, but are still eager to leverage Accelrance’s experience in this area to confirm their findings to date and, if necessary, present more thoughtful alternatives.

Amount currently employs about 400, mostly out of their Chicago, IL headquarters. Over 100 are involved in technology, including engineers, SREs, QA, BI, etc. The engineering team is separated into pods: they have 4 pods currently, with 2 to 3 squads per pod. Pods have responsibility for 2 banks each. This coverage number could increase.

The vision is to build a dedicated, fully onboarded extension of their in-house group, although working in a staff augmentation model. The objective is to build a team of about 50 people to start: devs, some SRE, QA. Given the size, there is a thought that two partners could accomplish this easier while diversifying the risk.

The tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, HTML/CSS, Postgres, Jira, Zoom, and Slack. The new partner will need to be flexible: change requests are difficult to estimate, so they need a partner who can respond to requests with as little as a six-week lead time. They will also need to provide at least 6 hours of time overlap with Chicago, so groups in Latin America make the most sense but they will consider groups in E. Europe if they can cover 10 am-4 pm CT.

Amount does have experience engaging developers outside their organization. They have 28 contractors now, which includes DevOps resources from Gorilla Logic. There is an active relationship with Accenture, although that is starting to wind down. They have worked with developers from West Monroe Partners.

They would ideally like to start with their new partner as soon as possible without sacrificing quality, ideally 6-8 weeks.

What BairesDev has to say about your project

Ryan,

To be quite honest, I believe this is a great fit for BairesDev. I believe so for many reasons.

On one hand, the obvious reason is that we’re perfectly aligned in terms of time zone and our engineers speak fluent English (this is a huge advantage in comparison to other companies), so they will be able to have direct interaction - Video calls, phone calls, daily stand-ups, etc. - with the team, every day. We not only have our Headquarters in Buenos Aires (and a large presence in Latin America), but we also have the ability to staff all through Latin America, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

A second reason and this is also relevant; our company size is perfect for this project. Why? Because we’re obviously large enough to cope with the project without problems even if we had to ramp up the entire project’s team immediately, but at the same time the project is relevant to us which basically means that the Top Management will be directly involved. This is a big plus in comparison with 5K+ or 50 people companies that probably will have as liaison point someone without decision-making power or someone with a structure that might not provide enough backup.

The third is direct industry experience. Please see our Fintech cases attached. We are the key development staff for companies like Chime, Dataline Systems, and Rapyd. We can review our ability to staff the top Java developers in Latin America with the type of experience you are looking for. We only staff senior engineers as they are the most reliable, quick learners, motivated, and can instantly help drive your product or business forward with limited oversite.

Finally something extremely important: I’m 100% sure we will deliver on time. We’re probably one of the rare companies that are able to create a team with solid engineers in a matter of only a few days. As you know, we have received more than 50K new applicants (plus around 35K that applied for the 2nd time) in the last 12 months -Top Talent - and our staffing process for deploying teams is not only very fast but very strict too (we hire less than 1% of the applicants). Our Project Management processes have been developed and improved in hundreds (around 800) projects and you will not only see a final deliverable on time but also incremental demos regularly, assuring that you not only get things at the right time but also that no deviations are seen along with the project.

Please review our case studies: HERE pg 79 for Fintech

Thanks and regards,

What Applaudo Studios has to say about your project

Mike,

What an interesting opportunity for Applaudo. We are excited to see how we can help your client achieve their goals. We are recruiting and staffing heavily from all over Latin America now, not just El Salvador. We added over 25 FTE last month and now have teams in 16 different countries and we are growing to almost 500 FTE. We have a serious pulse on the market and a good history with the provided tech stack. As you know RoR is the main technology for one of our current Accelerance clients. We are looking forward to meeting your client and learning more.

What Avantica has to say about your project

Mike,

Thanks for thinking of us for this opportunity. We would love to sit down with your client to learn more about how Avantica can help solve their issues. As you know we are growing fast, but smart. We can pull resources for Ruby on Rails and the other tech stacks you mentioned from our development centers in Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, and of course Costa Rica. Let us know how we can help and grow with your client for the future.

Conclusion

After you review this proposal please respond with feedback and questions so that we can clarify your needs and preferences.

The next recommended step is to have a brief 1 hour video call with two or more recommended partners using a simple agenda below. You will use the calls to validate shared information while exploring other related topics like how they work with clients and how they would create and ramp up your team, what software development methods they use with clients, case studies, metrics, etc... You can choose to keep the call at the business level or you can make it more technical.

Partner Intro Video Call - Recommended Agenda

  • 15 min: Overview of your company background and project goals and objectives.
  • 15 min: Partner overview and review of their ability to support your software development needs
  • 25 min: Q & A
