Situational Summary

Company:

Launched in 2017 and located in San Francisco, eMOD and the eMOD Safety App by BuildSafely LLC comes from a team of experienced commercial construction superintendents, project managers, and safety officers from San Francisco-based Dome Construction. Safety is more than a passion; we’ve built a company and a product dedicated to making our industry safer.

The eMOD Safety App is designed for the next generation of construction owners, insurance companies, general contractors, subcontractors, and tradespeople.

Concerns:

  • They have a very substantial backlog, but they are still small with real-time customer priorities. The roadmap is dynamic.
  • Their permissions model is an issue that needs attention.
  • eMod has little Rails experience but a lot of work with this area. 

Selection and Success Criteria:

  • Sr. Rails developer to sort out their Rails architecture. That person will work with Anthony as a guiding force. This first hire will have a large collaborative voice in the direction of the platform. They will possess a significant amount of autonomy, owning a big part of the product's success.
  • Strong development leadership qualities. Expressive. An owner. A critical thinker who understands the business model.
  • They also need help on the iOS portion. Ideally 1/2 iOS and 1/2 front. If that doesn't work they can go full/full. But would be ideal to conserve cash if possible.
  • Don't refactor just to refactor. There will be a good deal of trust established early to make this a true strategic extension of eMOD. They really want someone with self-confidence and leadership qualities.
  • Would be good to have a partner with good UX skillsets to tap into.

Budget:

  • Enough for 2-3 to start and grow from there.

Timeframe:

  • Start early to mid-September 2021

Reporting Structure:

  • Chris will be the Product Lead
  • Anthony will be the technical lead and the main interface with the developer
