FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Redwood City, CA (Dec
7, 2007) – Accelerance,
the company dedicated to helping professionals take the risk out
of outsourcing software development globally, announced that CEO
Steve Mezak will be recognized by The
Outsourcing Institute at its Best of Outsourcing Thought Leadership
(BOTL) awards ceremony in New York, NY on December 11, 2007. Mezak's
white paper, "Speeding
the Search for Offshore Developers," a finalist in the BOTL
Procurement category, discusses the challenges businesses face when
seeking offshore development partners and examines the advantages
of utilizing offshore software development networks. The white paper
can be downloaded from www.accelerance.com,
along with a free World
Region Outsourcing Guide.
"Companies exploring offshore software development often find it difficult to make such an important decision in a short period of time. For example, what country is best? How can they overcome time, distance and language barriers to assess the quality of offshore developers?" said Mezak. "To reduce the risks of offshoring, many companies are turning to offshore software development networks. These networks provide rapid access to pre-qualified developers based on a range of criteria, such as location, programming skills and English language proficiency. As a result, businesses can narrow their focus to a short list of highly qualified vendors and cut months from their ramp up efforts."
The 2007 BOTL competition was sponsored by The Outsourcing Institute, a member network of 70,000 outsourcing buyers, providers, and influencers looking for unbiased information, support, best practices, tools and networking. BOTL entries were reviewed by eight judges, led by head judge Brenna Garratt, president of The Delve Group, a strategic marketing, branding and communications company with a specialty in outsourcing. The judges evaluated submissions based on the level of innovation, influence, and relevance of the topic as well as the style and clarity with which the information was presented. Accelerance's article won exceptionally high marks for relevance and influence.
The BOTL Award is Mezak's second this year
for outstanding content. In June his book, Software
Without Borders: A Step-by-Step Guide to Outsourcing Your Software
Development received a Gold IPPY Award in the Computer/Internet
category of the annual Independent Publisher Book Awards, the world's
largest international and regional book awards competition. Published
in 2006, Mezak's book was one of 3,378 entries in 65 categories
submitted from all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia,
plus eight Canadian provinces and 18 countries. Software Without
Borders is the only book specifically focused on the global
outsourcing of software development. It offers a proven system for
choosing the right vendor and location and an objective method for
comparing options, including in-house development, contract outsourcing,
build, operate & transfer (BOT) and subsidiary creation. The book
also includes a well-defined vendor selection process and recommendations
for measuring and managing the progress of your offshore software
development.
